I woke up in the middle of the night.
Gasping for air.
Reaching for you,
but you weren't there.
I looked around frantically,
secretly hoping it was
all just a dream.
I looked around and
it was all dark.
I looked out the window,
across the peaceful park.
The one where we would
just walk and
where we would
just talk.
I snapped back to reality
and looked on my dresser.
The note you left
earlier perched up above
was just another stressor.
The note where it all ended
was still there.
